**We did it - MKPortal is running in 2026 alongside phpBB3!**

I know this might not mean much to everyone, but for me this is a huge achievement. I've always been trying to recreate that feeling of the 2000s gaming era when it comes to hosting servers and building a community around them.

Over the next few days, I’ll slowly be putting everything in place to bring back a small piece of that glorious Half-Life era that so many of us remember.

By today’s standards, this setup is old, outdated, and far from perfect. In terms of modern web security, it belongs to another time. But that is exactly what makes it special - it is a genuine time capsule of what Half-Life communities were built on.

During the 2000s, many clans and gaming communities ran setups just like this: a CMS, a forum, a server, and a group of people who simply enjoyed playing together. It was a huge part of gaming culture back then.

Like most things in life, those days have slowly faded away. Time moves on, communities change, and eventually even the memories we created can disappear.

That is why I’m trying to preserve what Half-Life meant to me and so many others. The friendships, the stories, the rivalries, the laughs, and the countless hours spent on those servers are all part of a history that deserves to be remembered.

This is my small attempt to keep a piece of it alive.

I love you all, and most importantly, I want to say this:

Half-Life has shaped me into someone I never believed I could become.

The friendships I made, the communities I was part of, and the experiences I had through decades of online gaming have had a profound impact on my life. What started as simply playing a game became something much bigger - it became a journey that helped shape who I am today.

Because of those experiences, I am now working towards a future in IT, with the possibility of becoming a Data Center Technician in the coming weeks. A path that, honestly, I don't think I would have found without Half-Life and the incredible people I met along the way.

Hosting servers, learning how they worked, troubleshooting problems, building communities, and keeping everything running was never just a hobby. It was the beginning of a passion that grew over many years.

Half-Life gave me more than a game. It gave me friendships, memories, skills, and a direction in life that I never expected.

That is why preserving this community matters so much to me. It is not just about keeping an old server online - it is about preserving a part of my own history and the history of so many others who shared those same moments.

Even though none of you may ever see this, I want you to know that I remember.

Thank you to everyone who was part of that journey - the players, the clans, the friends, and the strangers who joined a server and became part of a story that lasted for decades.

As the years pass, the people who lived through that era become fewer and fewer. Without someone preserving it, a lot of the knowledge, memories, and connections built over decades of Half-Life could one day be lost forever.

Someday, I’ll move on to the next map too, just like everyone eventually does. Until then, this is my small attempt to leave behind a piece of the community that gave me so much.
